Plans and Programs: 
- Improving the national strategy on soil & water management according to FAO Agenda for the 21st Century and preparing the required mechanisms
- Efforts toward promoting knowledge and awareness of the public, authorities, and decision-makers on watershed management and familiarizing them with the requirements of water & soil resource preservation
- Cooperation with public organizations with respect to developing consultation on natural disasters such as flood, drought, landslide as well as supervising research and executive projects in these fields
- Participation and cooperation with international and national organizations in other countries in the implementation of resource restoration and reclamation projects
- Publication and dissemination of conference proceedings and research findings
- Providing educational services through organizing workshops, seminars, scientific lectures, and short-term courses
- Establishing branch offices at the provincial level and admission of new members aimed at the quantitative extension and development of the Society to the most remote areas across the country
- Developing expertise knowledge on issues concerning the fields of activity by the Society and the dissemination of views and knowledge through the mass media
- Publishing a newsletter and a scientific quarterly in watershed management entitled Iranian Journal of Watershed Management Science & Engineering
- Paying homage to and venerating the pioneers and activists in the field of soil, water and watershed management through mechanisms and means as deemed appropriate by the Board
- Publishing books and technical manual
- Up- to- date website
- Participation on natural resources and watershed management laws and regulation
- Organizing International, regional and national conferences

Constitution of Iranian watershed management society

Section 01, Aims and general comments

Article 01: In order to expand and promote science and experts, qualifications in training and researches, Iranian watershed management society (which is called the Society from now on) is established.

Article 02: The society is a fundamental and profitable nongovernmental organization is active in technical, scientific in research fields and has a logical personality and head of assembly board is representative of the society.

Article 03: Headquarter of the society is located in the campus of natural resources, university of Tehran in Karaj, Alborz Province. Branches of the society can be established everywhere right after convincing of Iranian societies, commission.

Article 04: The society established for infinite period right after convincing the

Constitution of the society. From now on, considering the laws of the Islamic republic of Iran is quite mandated for the society.

Section 02, Duties and activities

Article 05: in order to approach to the mentioned aims in article 01, the following procedures would be done:

5-1- Establishing and strengthening scientific and research relations in both national and international levels between researchers and experts in Watershed management and other related sciences.

5-2- Cooperation with executive, scientific and research institutes in assessing, reviewing and conducting projects and training programs.

5-3- Persuasion, encouragement and exhortation of researchers. Glorification, honoring and praising brilliant professors.

5-4- Presenting training and research services.

5-5- Organizing scientific conferences in national, regional and international levels.

5-6- Providing scientific bulletin, booklets, books and scientific magazines.

5-7- Organizing and contributing in training workshops and research both domestic and international tours.

5-8- Reproduction and selling magazines, arms, calendars, cards and others under arm of the society.

Section 03, Kinds and conditions of membership

Article 06: Kind and conditions of membership

6-1: Continuous membership

Society organizers and all persons with at least Master of Science n watershed management and other related majors for those without any back ground or those with Bachelor of Science with at least a 5 year experience of working in watershed management fields can get continuous membership. 

6-2: Related membership

Those who have the following conditions can get related membership:

  1. Those with Bachelor of Science in watershed management and related fields.
  2. Those with Bachelor of Science with at least a 2 year experience of working in the related fields.

6-3: Student membership

6-4: Honor membership

6-5: Legal membership

Organizations working in related scientific and research fields can get legal membership.

Article 07: all the members should pay his/her tuition annualy.

The Watershed Management Society of Iran is an independent, non-profit and non-governmental organization registered under license No. 10285. It began its activities in 1998 with over 450 members from university professors, researchers, and practitioners working on issues related to water and soil. According to the Society’s Constitution, the main object of this NGO is, to promote the science and enhance the knowledge level of the members both qualitely and quantitativly in the related  improvement of experts in the field, and fields.
The Society is involved in the necessity dissemination of preserving the necessity of preserving soil and water and watershed management among the public and puts its efforts on solving the problems removing the obstacles existing in the way of proper management of this God-gifted resources. These efforts and activities are expected to bring about changes in the public attitude toward the management of these resources in order to prepare the grounds for their exploitation on a sustainable basis. It is obvious that the outcome would be drastic from this shall be drastic improvements in general living standards of the inhabitants in watersheds and the preservation of the natural environment of the Iranian territory as a national legacy for future generations.
